Meet Jean White
Jean White is an educator, entrepreneur and the State Senator for Colorado Senate District 8 which includes Garfield, Moffat, Routt, Jackson, Rio Blanco, Grand, and Summit Counties.
Jean White has lived in Northwest Colorado for 38 years, has been to married to her husband Al for 33 years. They have two children, son, Devin 32 of Winter Park and daughter, Jenna 27 of Denver.
Jean was born and raised on a ranch in South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Education and a minor in Fashion Design & Merchandising. After working as a County Extension Agent in charge of 4-H programs she taught Junior High Science and Senior High Home Economics.
Entrepreneur & Community Activist
Jean and her husband spent 25 years in the ski business as owners and operators of several full service ski shops, a bike shop, and a mountain lodge. As an active member of the business community, she served on the board of the Winter Park Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Winter Park Music Inc.
She also served on the board of Colorado Council for the Arts and is a current board member of The Barrington HOA. Recently, she has become instrumental in addressing the wild horse issue that exists in Western Colorado counties by establishing a website, participating in numerous conference calls with officials from other Western states, and contacting the Department of Interior.
